Stafford Road Works

Stafford Road works was built on either side of Stafford Road (hence the name). Originally built by the Shrewsbury and Birmingham railway, it was adopted by the Great Western Railway in 1849. The works and engine shed to the east of Stafford road was known as the 'lower' works and the works to the west as the 'upper works'. The GWR built a larger works building on the upper site. A wonderful history of the works can be found at this website.
