Originally designed with two platforms, a booking hall, a passing loop, a goods depot, a weighbridge office and a signal box (not built), Tettenhall was supposed to the end of the double-track section from Oxley junction and the start of the single line section until Kingswinford. When the line was opened, track was only placed past the main waiting room. Passenger traffic closed in 1932, although the station was used during World War II for hospital traffic.
